NEWS FEED:

Jon Contino
Here’s a man who loves lettering. Jon’s flickr is choc-a-bloc with sketchbook pages of hand drawn type and his website has some fantastic typographic illustration as well as drawings and commercial logos.

Tom Edwards
Tom Edwards recently teamed up with Rob Matthews to release the book ‘If Drawings Were Photographs’ (published by itsnicethat), a simple yet beautifully effective idea. His website’s under re-construction at the moment but you can find examples of his work on his flickr.

Martin Becka
A French photographer using an old English technique, Martin Becka’s Calotypes of Dubai are absolutely stunning. Reminiscent of the Jetsons or a 1950’s sci-fi comic book, these images and the rest of his work are well worth a look.

Frank Chimero
Frank Chimero is a working and teaching designer and illustrator whose list of clients is mighty, featuring companies such as Microsoft and American Airlines not to mention numerous well-known publications. He keeps a list of interesting inspirational sayings on his site and his blog is a good read too.

Sandy Kim
Sandy Kim’s been popping up on blogs all over the place, i admittedly overlooked her work at first but if you spend the times there’s some absolute gems to delve into.

Mike Brodie (a.k.a The Polaroid Kidd)
I was trying to think of what to say about Brodie as i totally adore his photographs; their voyeurism and honesty. Thankfully wikipedia saved me from stumbling over my own words:
“Even if you’re not intrigued by Brodie’s ragtag bohemian cohort—a band of outsiders with an unerring sense of post-punk style—the intimate size and warm, slightly faded color of his prints are seductive. His portraits…..have a tender incisiveness that is rare at any age.” - Vince Aletti

His website’s been down for ages but photos can be found here and here

Jeffery Brown
This guy’s a genius, he seems to have a million pocket sized comic books out and every one of them has managed to put a quiet smile on my face. Saying that i found his website a bit of a nightmare.
